1st time doing Greylock. Many trails to the top but we were camping a mile from here so……. Visitor center is pretty cool. Trail starts from visitor center along the Bradley Farm Trail, 1.8 mile easy hike with markers listing historical facts, pretty cool. Then it starts, uphill for a bit nothing crazy just up. Flattens out thru some amazing ferns as far as you can see, beautiful. Easy walking with some ups & downs. At Rounds Rocks Parking area it gets a little steeper but you cross an amazing field that is absolutely beautiful. Jaw dropping, something out of a Robert Frost poem. Jones Nose lot good place to take a break then you go thru another beautiful field & you can see the climb ahead. Up to Jones Nose, nice views then up & down til you jump on the AT. Nothing to note maybe a little slippery thru here. Cross the road twice then…….crowds but not really bad. Nice views, grabbed water & sat in the shade for an hour. Back down to Jones Lot for my ride. Beautiful day, hot, humid, harder than I expected due to the heat but a great hike! |
