Comments: Returned to Hotel Downstreet and had a good night's sleep before starting off early for our second slack pack day on the AT. The climb out of Dalton to the ledges of The Cobble was the climb of the day. Nice views back at Mt. Greylock! Cool place. This 8 mile hike started steep and ended going steeply down hill. Wonderful forest and a lot of nice soft trail. I took home a piece of a giant Chicken of the Woods fungi! This day we met two Nobos. One fellow from SC "finishing his hike" Going to go to where he gets to Route 4 and he said that would complete his hike from Springer to Hanover. Of course we said but you should do Franconia Ridge and he replied, I don't think so and took off.
Nice to continue Julie's and my AT adventure, slack packing was better than not doing anything and actually it was so much fun we might do it again this fall.
