Hard packed snow made for a fast trail this late afternoon. We ascended in bare boots but added spikes for descent just to go faster and be safe. Very blustery at summit; donned extra layers. Amazed at seeing three hikers in shorts or short sleeves. Beautiful fiery sunset early despite clouds that obscured most of the surrounding views, although still captured a glimpse of the Wapacks including Pack, N. Pack and Grand Monadnock.
On Bolton Pond Tr, we went straight on a higher spur trail instead of turning right to descend on the actual path along the pond’s edge as the former was more broken out. |
