Comments
Comments: Why hike in junky snow and ice when you can enjoy trail time on dry, bare ground? I ventured south of the border (gasp) today to explore the Trustees of Reservations' Charles W. Ward Reservation in Andover, MA.

I'd never been here before and this is a lovely trail system with many neat things to see -- the solstice stones, a fire tower, a former radar installation, abandoned ski area infrastructure, views of Boston, a few swamps, and a bog. It's great to have this large open space in an otherwise busy area of the state.

Needless to say everything was dry and snow-free. The only place I encountered ice was on the boardwalk along Bog Trail. Not enough to warrant spikes though.
