Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Mid-sized parking area with room for over a dozen cars. Maybe a half dozen or so there at 9am and 11:45am. There’s a place to pay but someone told me that you don’t have to between Labor Day and Memorial Day though there were no signs indicating this.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails/loops are blazed in their respective colors and semi-frequently. Junctions are well marked. Sanborn Trail is malted with black I believe but not certain. Bog Trail in purple. One small, trivial step over blowdown on Blue Loop. There may have been others too.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I think dogs are allowed on leash only here. I saw a few, some of which were off leash. The owners put them on when they saw people but some were still not on voice control which was disappointing to see. Good trails for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: First MA redline of the day, this one (mostly) with mom :) I combined all trails in the guidebook into a single short hike of about 6mi with some wrong turns. Route: Yellow Trail to summit —> Blue Trail counterclockwise over Boston Hill —> OAB on the portion of Blue Trail between Old Chestnut St and where the Blue Loop splits —> Red Loop/Old Chestnut St —> Sanborn Trail —> Yellow Trail to car —> OAB on Bog Trail. Make sure not to miss a very tight switchback 0.2mi into Yellow Trail(don’t continue straight, turn sharply left to continue uphill). There was a couple of inches of snow throughout the hike. Very beautiful with the freshly fallen snow. We saw a number of others out. Spikes were not needed. There is a reroute on Blue Loop between Old Chestnut St and Boston Hill and Elephant Rock (north side). Follow the blue flagging. Gaia had me at 6mi, 425ft of gain.
