 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The guidebook says not to park at the museum so I parked at Drummer Boy Park 0.2mi SW along Rt 6A. Plenty of room here. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No official water crossing per se but the way the "boardwalk" is looking, it could be a water crossing to get across the marsh. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Parts of the "boardwalk" (which are really just planks) have water over them and could be replaced. I do not recall any blowdowns. Trail maps posted at most junctions I think. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Dogs are not allowed on museum property year-round. |

From Drummer Boy Park, I walked 0.2mi NE along Rt 6A to the museum passing what's signed as Wing Trail just before the museum entrance. I think this is technically the trails start and this is what you need to redline but I continued to the museum parking lot and walked in a semi-circular trail shown on Gaia to the main trail. I then hiked the loop in a clockwise direction. The turn right off the beach is not at all marked and would be easy to miss because the beach just continues and I saw a number of others walking along it. There's a good deal of ice to slide along right before the boardwalk but I didn't bother putting on the spikes. As noted above, a piece or two of the boardwalk is an inch or two under water when you step on it and could be replaced. Your feet will actually stay drier if you walk along the sides of it. Gaia had me at 2.1mi, 25ft of gain, 46min. |
