Trails: Indian Mountain Trail, Squaw Peak Trail, Hickey Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, February 23, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I don't think the parking area was plowed but it had seen a lot of traffic and it was minimal snow so just about any car should be fine to get in it. The one small hurdle is the lip to get from the road up onto the snow which was a couple inches. Go slow getting in and out. I was one of only a few cars at 5pm and the last one at 7pm.

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs are allowed but must be leashed. I might be careful with them around the cliffs of Squaw Peak.

Comments
Comments: All jucntions were well signed. Indian Mountain Trail is blazed in blue, Squaw Peak Trail in red, and Hickey Trail in orange. I believe that blazing was fresh and relatively frequent. I didn't find the trails difficult to follow though Squaw Peak Trail was narrow and seemed less defined at times.

2nd hike of the day after redlining the nearby Ice Glen and Laurel Hill Park trail systems. I ascended Indian Mountain Trail, then took Squaw Peak Trail over the summits and down to Indian Mountain Trail which I reascended to the same junction, then descended Hickey Trail. I tried to redline the little Devil's Pulpit but it's shown as an OAB on the map, is shown as two separate spurs on Gaia, seemed to be a maze of herd paths to me, so I didn't stress too much about getting it right as it's not given with a distance in the guidebook. I definitely recommend checking it out though; cool spot. The trails were well travelled but I recommend spikes with an icy surface. This is usually a very busy hike but on a winter evening, largely after the sun has gone down, I only saw one person! Gaia had me at about 4mi, 875ft of gain, 2hrs.
