At high tide, much of the usual trail is under water making travel rather difficult. |

I don't recall if the trail was marked or not but I don't think it was. I believe there were some trail signs at jcts and such. I do not recall any blowdowns. |

The internet says dogs are allowed on leashes 6ft or less in designated areas. Just read the trail signs I guess. |

Was saving this beach hike to do with Lil Young! Unfortunately, I thought this was the least cool of all the beach hikes I've done in the guidebook thus far but nonetheless this was very enjoyable. The biggest thing to note is that large sections of trail are truly underwater at high tide and there are not always or usually established paths to go around. Often there were multiple paths and it was unclear which way to go; a bit of a redliners nightmare sort of situation. Also of note was the fact that there were a large number of dead gulls scattered around the beaches which was a little unnerving. Not sure if dogs got them or they died and that was after the fact but I've never seen anything like that before. To offset that ugliness, there were a number of terrific finds in terms of shells, horseshoe crab carcasses, etc. scattered throughout the beaches; it was really quite impressive and Lil Young had a great eye for them. Trails were mostly dry in the woods but wet, muddy, or often waterfilled around the beaches at least some of the time. I believe Gaia showed some trails in places where there weren't and some connecting paths that are not needed for redlining so please feel free to reach out if you'd like my track. Gaia had us at 9mi, 200ft of gain, 4hr41min. |
