 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Mid-large sized parking area with room for over a dozen cars I believe. Between a half-dozen and a dozen just before 5:30pm and room for several more. I think I was the last one at 7:30pm. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
I don't think there were any. The guidebook mentions a path around the swamp crossing on Magnolia Swamp Trail if the boardwalk is submerged but it was not. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I'm not so sure Old Salem Rd is blazed but Magnolia Swamp Trail is blazed in yellow, Fern Lake Trail in blue, Ledge Hill Trail in orange, and I don't think Ridge Road was blazed. I think all roads/things labelled in black on their trail map are not blazed. A very large, old, duck under somewhere along Fern Lake Trail. Two small stepovers along Ledge Hill Trail that were right next to each other. All trail jcts were signed. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Good trails for dogs. They are allowed off leash outside of the parking area. |

Somehow I missed that you needed to redline the other trails here when walking Old Salem Rd a couple of weeks back so I came back this day to finish redlining the trails in the area. My route: Old Salem Rd (south end) --> Magnolia Swamp Trail (south end) to its northern end of Old Salem Rd then back to --> Fernwood Lake Trail (south to north) --> Old Salem Rd (north) --> Ledge Hill Trail (north to south) --> Old Salem Rd (north) --> OAB on Ridge Rd --> Old Salem Rd back to car. I don't remember trail conditions terribly well but I know there was some wetness at least and presumably at least a little mud; no snow or ice. A view of the harbor/ocean from Ledge Hill Trail but I think that was it. The other trails were pleasant enough but not particularly interesting. Gaia had me at 6mi, 300ft of gain, 1hr58min. |
