Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We spotted a car at the pullout with room for a few well parked cars on Jug End Rd (just us or maybe one other shortly before 9am), then drove over to the mid-sized dirt lot on Egremont Rd. Room for probably around a dozen cars there but we were the only ones at 9am and 11am.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I think most crossings were bridged. Anything that wasn't was easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I think that there was one large but easy enough stepover/straddler blowdown maybe 3/4mi or so from Egremont Rd. Maybe more that I'm forgetting about.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure but I'd keep them leashed considering the trail goes through fields that I assume are on private property.
Bugs
Bugs: None but the guidebook implies that the swampy parts get very buggy!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: The AT is blazed in white. Short sections without any blaze through the farm pastures and such but not too difficult to find where you're going.

First hike of the day. The guidebook breaks the AT into some odd sections here as Section 2 ends at Rt 7 but there's no parking there...but the guidebook doesn't tell you that until you read Section 3. Got a car spot for the parents then traversed north to south (or more like east to west in this small section) with them. This section of the AT is pretty flat and only has minor cahnges in elevation. Some bog bridging to contend with which was wet and slick at times but overall it has pretty good footing too. there's also a bridge with a very small ladder you've got to climb up and down to access.

Trails were a mix of wet and dry as it hadn't rained much the night before but was starting to rain by the time we were finishing up. The swamp and boardwalk areas were cool along with the pastures and there's a very neat moss covered stone wall that you parallel, then cross as well. Gaia had us at 2.8mi, 225ft of gain (should be less going the other direction).
