 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There isn't designated parking at either end of the trail and the guidebook didn't make this clear. There is parallel parking opposite Whitemore Brook Rd on Playstead Rd. There was a sign about no parking on Friday mornigns due to street sweeping or something but this generally seems like a good (and free!) place to park. Goodyear Rd is a dead-end street with a house at the end. There are no parking signs at the very end but it seemed like you were allowed 2hr parking (except Sunday's when there was no restrictions) just a few yards down the road. We were there longer than 2hrs but I'd be cautious as there's a house right here. No one else was parked here. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
I don't think there was anything that wasn't bridged but water was noticeably high. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Cross Fells Trail is marked pretty regularly and frequently in blue. Other colored markings appear where it coincides with other trails so just be sure to stick on the blue. Some junctions are signed and others are not (they are so numerous I think it would be impossible for all to be signed!). Generally speaking I think trail signs appear at road crossings but not beyond that. I don't recall anything more than a trivial stepover or two. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Dogs are allowed but must be on leash unless in a designated off leash area. Good trails for dogs. |
|
 | Bugs: |
None |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
A stroller was left in the woods! A glove and a very small croc was left at the Flynn Skating Rink. |

 | Comments: |
A nice little hike with mom once (most of) the rain was done. We hiked from west to east and the trails were wet but, as far as I recall, not particularly muddy, and while any flowing water was clearly swollen, I don't think there was much water on the trails. Rocks were wet but not particularly slick. There are many, many paths and jcts so make sure you're staying on the blaze color you want to be. Some evidence of some trail work. Not much in the way of views with low clouds but the trees are budding, though, interestingly, much more so on the outskirts of the woods near civilization; I noted that the trees were barely budding in the middle of the forest. Gaia had us at about 5mi, 400ft of gain. |
