Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Turn right 1/3mi down Weir Hill Rd. There's a sign here for the refuge but the guidebook doesn't explicitly mention this turn. Continue down the road for 0.1mi to paved parking on your right with the refuge headquarters just ahead on the left. Room for dozens of cars and only one other there around 5:15 and 5:45pm.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Much to my surprise, there were actually a number of large blowdowns on the trail. Some were just large stepovers, but at least a couple near the start of the Weir Hill Trail were duck unders. I think they may have all been on Weir Hill Trail. Looks like they've got some spring clean up to do! I don't recall the signage terribly well. I think that major jcts were signed (some with maps) and others were not.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not allowed
Bugs
Bugs: I know they were out on one of my hikes earlier in the day, so I'd assume that they were here too.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: 3rd hike/2nd MA redline of the day after Whitten Woods with the parents for Mother's Day in NH and Pond Path on Walden Pond. This is a pleasant little loop hike with great birding for those interested. Note my direction about parking above as Gai shows another parking area to the north which made mapping the hikes out a bit confusing. The parking is just north of the tiny pond that Red Maple Swamp goes around. Gaia shows all the trails in this area as Weir Hill Trail but only the trail north of the road you park on is Weir Hill Trail. The trails had dried out well by this time of day but I'd assume that there was still plenty of mud though I don't recall ground conditions very well. Gaia had me at 1mi, 60ft of gain, 25min.
