Trails: Bicentennial Trail, Mountain House Trail, Loop Trail, Jack Frost Trail, Lower Link Trail, Stage Coach Trail, Harrington Trail, Pine Hill Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, May 30, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: $20 for non-MA plates and I think was $8 for MA plates but it said that you didn’t have to pay at this time. Auto road and gate closes 15min before sunset and trails close 30min after sunset. Large paved lots for dozens of cars and I was one of only a few there.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Trivial or bridged. Water is low but I’m sure that’ll change after tomorrow.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Easy old step over somewhere around the jct of Bicentennial Trail and Mountain House Trail. Not sure which one it was on. Branch hanging down into the trail and an easy step over on Jack Frost Trail. Trail jcts are all well signed. I think most (except the connecting trails??) or all trails were blazed (many in blue I think) but don’t recall how frequently or anything. I don’t recall them being difficult to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs are allowed on leash. Non-hiking dogs will likely struggle with the rockiness and roughness of at least Bicentennial Trail and possibly others. The steepness/minor scrambling on the upper portion of Harrington may also be a challenge. Most hiking dogs would probably be fine with all the trails.
Bugs
Bugs: I don’t remember there being any actually!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Post-work redline to work on the Wachusett Trails. My route: Bicentennial Trail out to High Meadow Trail and back to —> Mountain House Trail out to Mountain Rd —> Mtn House Trail —> OAB on Loop Trail —> Mtn House Trail —> Jack Frost Trail —> Administration Rd —> Stage Coach Trail —> Harrington Trail to summit —> Pine Hill Trail back to car.

Bicentennial Trail, though not much elevation, has some rough footing on boulders that surprised me. All other trails were pretty moderately graded at worst with the exception of Harrington Trail north of Semuhenna Trail where it was steep and rougher with what could possibly be called some minor/easy scrambling. The trails were mostly dry with the occasional bad mud pit/wet area. Very moody skies but no real rain. Gaia had me at 6.6mi, 1550ft of gain, 2hr58min.
