Race Brook Falls trailhead parking was nearly full at 11:00 AM- several of us were partially up on the curb to make it work. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Dry Brook, near the parking lot, was accurately named on this day- a dry gravel wash. Both Race Brook crossings were easy rock hops. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Ample numbers of blue blazes on the Race Brook Falls Trail, even though there were a few points where people have clearly wandered off trail- to approach the falls? AT easy to follow as usual. No significant blowdowns. |

Didn't see any, but these trails would be fine. |

A few flies and mosquitoes, well-deterred by 5% picaridin. |

Beautiful hike, with a healthy climb up the middle section of Race Brook Falls Trail, earning views of cascades, groves of mountain laurel slightly past peak bloom, and awesome views- especially if you travel 1/4 mile south of the Mt. Race summit to the open ridgeline beyond. Not surprisingly, a number of friendly hikers were out on this fair-weather day during the 4th of July weekend. More route details on Unnecessary Climb! |
