 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Gaia mistakenly shows a parking area where the trail crosses Tyne Rd. Maybe there's a pullout, but if there was, it was snow covered so I parked 0.4mi west at the ORV parking show on Gaia at the southern end of Finnerty Trail. This lot is large and plowed. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I don't recall any blowdowns, but that doesn't mean there weren't any. I don't think the AT was signed where it crossed Tyne Rd, and it's easy to miss the crossing. The AT is blazed in white, and I think it was pretty easy to follow in this section, even with the snow. I don't recall the frequency of the blazing. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
None seen but this would be a fine section of the AT for dogs with moderate grades and water. |

This was a redline of the AT between Tyne Rd and County Rd (unplowed where the AT crosses it), which finished Section 6 of the AT in the guidebook for me. 6mi road walk back to the car, though you could drive a car with AWD and good tires to just 0.2mi east of where the AT crosses County Rd. The AT was tracked out to a point I believe, but I think they eventually disappeared. The snow depth was not that great though so "breaking trail" was easy. While snowshoes may have been preferred in spots along the ridge, they certainly weren't needed, and with very minimal snow cover in other areas, they weren't worth carrying at the time. Some elevation on this hike but mostly moderate and easy. Walling Mtn is a NE 2000 Footer, so I made sure to hit the highpoint which I believe is just off trail on the NE side of the trail. If coming from the south, look for the highpoint as soon you hit the summit area. Though it looks like there may be a higher point further north along the ridge, there isn't. I actually walked back south along a tenth of a mile to make sure I hit the highpoint. There's a small cairn. No register here, but there's a sign-in for AT hikers on Becket Mtn, which is a subpeak to the south. Didn't see any other hikers. Gaia had me at 11.4mi, 1300ft of gain, 5hr27min. |
