2nd hike of the day after Soapstone Hill. Soapstone Hill had a great view at the summit, but this is just a great hike, overall. Loved the fields and open views. I hiked the loop counterclockwise, opposite of what the guidebook describes. After dipping into the woods, the trail comes to a second, smaller field. I thought the trail continued straight through it, but it actually bears right into the woods (again if hiking the loop CCW, opposite of what the guidebook describes) and follows a winding route; do NOT go through the field. I went the wrong way and had to do an OAB here. I didn't see any others out, but there were a few other cars when I got there around 4:15pm. I think this is a pretty frequented area. Gaia had me at 1.7mi, 60ft of gain, 41min. |
