Crystal Gorge Conservation Area (located in Haverhill, MA): really nice loop trails. Gorge area was not totally obvious - looked like a small vernal pool between two rocky outcroppings. Still, very pretty. Mostly hardwoods and high stone walls - would be really nice mountain biking because it has AWESOME-looking singletrack (biking IS allowed :). Trail names on internet map http://www.ci.haverhill.ma.us/departments/econ/conservation/trails/crystal_gorge.pdf
are not labeled but trails were well-marked with blazes and trail names. Only problem was that we could not find a match between the trail map and the trail names. Still, an AWESOME place to explore and if you get lost - it's not too hard to find a way out!!!! NICE!!! |
