Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Goose Eye Trail - I missed the right turn after a couple of logging road stretches - took logging roads and hunted around... FINALLY found the sign/turn. Also, lots of rotting bog bridges on Wright Trail. North Branch of Wright trail unsigned from below; sign torn apart from the top of trail - wasn't sure if it was closed or not - blazes were light and there were a LOT of blowdowns... a shame because it's a really beautiful trail!!!

Comments
Comments: Route: up Goose Eye Trail to Mahoosuc Trail to Wright Trail (south branch) and then to regular Wright Trail down to Bull Branch Road (in Maine). Then, turned around and ascended Wright Trail, took north Branch, and went across the bumpy Mahoosuc Trail until I got to Mt Carlo and descended via Carlo Col Tr.

Thankfully, I read a report on NETC to wear hunter orange - I saw a hunter near the start of the trail and was glad I had hunter orange on!!!

Ascent to Goose Eye and many stretches of trail above 3000' were TREACHEROUS due to ice flows and the fact that I didn't carry traction. VERY slippery - I used tree branches a LOT. The plank bridges along the Mahoosuc Trail were snowy but not too slippery. Below 3000' on the trails, there were leaves over large mud puddles - challenging keeping upright and the feet stayed wet. Great views today, 30F most of the day, VERY windy on the ridges, and only saw people at the Carlo Col shelter. AWESOME day!!!!
