The AT is in good condition except a few spots of rough footing and mud near the three ponds.
Hike includes the Piazza Rock, three nice ponds, and extensive open ridge hiking.
Many hikers on the trail including AT thru hikers. Saw international hikers (New Zealand, Germany, and Quebec), national hikers (CA, GA, MD, and PA), and regional hikers (ME, NH, MA, CT, and RI).
Notices posted at the trailhead concerning the lost AT hiker. Everyone was on alert for the hiker. Saw search and rescue personnel on Saddleback and a helicopter was patrolling the skies. |
