Big Squaw Mountain (aka Big Moose Mountain for politically correct state bureaucrats...call it Big Moose locally and you're likely to be corrected). We toyed with ascending the ski slopes, however the upper part of the ski area is still defunct and the slopes a bit overgrown.
Lower portion of the hiking trail had a few areas of minor mud, but was generally okay. Relentless steep rock steps above the fire wardens cabin (rotting away...has a skylight courtesy a hole in the roof).
Excellent directional views from the summit, though obscured by fog from recent rain shower. Did not continue to a viewpoint to the north due to time and energy, but did check out the scenic spur in the col, which had similar views to those up top. |
