Brook low on Old Speck was down to a trickle in a large rocky dry stream bed. No significant water crossings |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in generally good condition. Sections of the Grafton Loop Trail where there was a break in the forest canopy there was prolific growth in ground level vegetation which encroached on the pathway. Nevertheless the trailway was discernible. Two spruce tree falls across the Grafton Loop Trail. One is a straddle and the other a duck or swing under. |

Saw a dog with two AT thru hikers. Trails should be fine for dogs although water may be scarce. |

None except for a few house flies on Old Speck Trail. |

 | Comments: |
Most of the trail was dry including most of the ledges. The Old Speck Trail and the short stretch of the Mahoosuc Trail leading to Old Speck summit were in great shape. The Grafton Loop Trail was generally in good shape except for the hobblebush, briars, and spruce boughs extending in to the trail in the areas where the forest floor was exposed to sunlight. Miles Notch is a nice secluded col. The peregrine falcon flew by while I was on Sunday River Whitecap. Great views from the Old Speck observation tower and from the ledges and open summit of Sunday River Whitecap (except for the views of the wind turbines). |
