| Dog-Related Notes: |
Heard a dog whining near the top of Mahoosuc Arm.He later joined us.He had on ID tags and a remote transmitter.Fearing he was lost, we tried phoning what looked like phone numbers, but no area codes.Eventually he went back towards the summit. We hope his owner wasn't hurt or disabled near by, but we had to continue on our long day hike. |

29 degrees to start this journey.Notch Trail was easy.Mohoosuc Notch Section of AT as described in the book.We purposely changed our hiking schedule and did this one on a sunny and dry day.The steep climb up to the arm also as described. Down to Speck Pond, up to Old speck where we were alone at the summit.A little chilly up there.Back down to the pond, Up steeply again to the Arm, then steeply down the Speck Pond Trail to the road.Finished with a two mile road walk which was quite enough for one day.Great rewards for this effort as the day was sunny and pleasant and the views unmatchable. |
