Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A bridge has been replaced just below the turnoff to the pond. A turnout had been created for construction equipment and making the former slight road bend into a full left turn. About 50 yards past the bridge is the junction where you turn right on a woods road which shortly narrows to an ATV type trail, heading towards the pond. This junction looks entirely different now, in fact we walked right past it before realizing our mistake. There's a soil berm blocking the turnoff with several large boulders among the top. Twenty yards in towards the pond (where the muddy section used to be) there's another soil berm lined with boulders. Then yet a third berm and boulders maybe 40 yds further where the trail turns a few degrees left, narrows and continues to the logging road cut in three/four years ago which allows you to avoid going to the pond, cutting right and uphill to intercept the herdpath. Back at the berm blocked turn, the small rectangular "Snow Mtn" sign was gone and the square yellow sign with black arrow was found, dirty, on the ground. There is a small handwritten white and green sign with a small arrow pointing to "North Rd" which does point more or less westward. A bit confusing until you walk a few yards up the road and see that a new cut has been made connecting back down to the now berm blocked section described above.

Comments
Comments: The second day of the Six Pack weekend. A beautiful sunny, fall day. plenty of color still on the trees. There's now a well-worn path cutting up and right avoiding the big boulder a third of the way up the herdpath. The NEHH ain't what they used to be. The summit canister notebook had an entry stating that Boundary Pk access via Gosford was closed due to hunting. We had made yesterday's "Boundary via the swath from Cupsuptic Pond" plan prior to knowing this....lucky us! Congrats to Elizabeth for finishing her NEHH!! At the cars we split....Bob, Scott and Pam continuing on to East Kennebago where Bob finished his NEHH. Congrats Bob! And the rest of us heading home.
