 | Comments: |
Ascended with party of 3 to Saddelback summit via ski area trails and A.T. Ski area trails are well packed with warming hut about 2/3 of way up. Path to summit is obvious, to right of upper lift buildings. Summit was mostly blown bare of heavy snow with lots of bone showing & hard sastrugi patches. Winds ~50-60mph and greater gust + single digit temps--we did not linger or explore the route to The Horn. Did not notice where the A.T. turned south from top of ridge either. Necessary to use great caution on ski area to avoid eating ski or snowboard sandwiches. Snow is loose on the ski trails ascent--snowshoes recommended. |
