 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Since access to Abraham seems to be confusing, I've done my best to provide accurate directions here (use at your own risk):
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=44.970263,-70.201607&spn=0.090356,0.222988&t=p&z=13&msid=117019345763301515980.0004882354f70f385dc57
The drive in from the West Kingfield Rd to the trailhead is about 3.25 miles. The road shortcut is approx. 2 miles.
The bridges over Rapid Stream are about 2.5-2.75 miles in. Take care crossing both of them. At the fork afterwards, take the right one .5-.75 miles to the trailhead. It is at a 3-way intersection. The sign is still there. To the right is a bridge that crosses over Norton Brook. Appears to be fine. Past here, I have guessed on the road shortcut to the trail further up. Use your judgment.
For parking, pull off to the side as best as possible. |

The cabin stands. Anyone know why there are yellow blazes around its property boundary? Long stretches of telephone wire found in the scree. The shelter is still on the peak. Sheet of ice and moldy blanket in it at the time of trip. Tower base remains. Cairns can be seen across the Abraham Ridge. Presumably to Middle Abraham. Note, there is supposedly dense scrub in-between these cairns.
Photos should be accessible. If not, then I can post them elsewhere. |
