Black flies, ugh! We had sprayed our clothes with permethrin before the hike, and used DEET while out there. The black flies swarmed around us, but we got surprisingly few bites. |

 | Comments: |
We were prepared for fairly cold temperatures at the top, especially since it was supposed to be a windy, and maybe cloudy. But actually it was a glorious day! The sun stayed out, and we were mostly hot and peeling off layers, rather than cold and putting them on. |
