| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
We only got so far as we lost the trail, about 2/10 of a mile from Baldpate Lean-to. We turned around and hiked out. We had planned to spend the night in the Baldpate Lean-to, but could not find the trail markers. This has happened twice before in this same spot. More markers would be very helpful, especially for winter hiking. We have made it passed this spot several times, but it is difficult as the markers are covered in snow. |

Table Rock to Baldpate Lean-to from Rt #26
The trail had been broken though filled in on our way up to the Table Rock turn, then unbroken heading to the West Peak until we stopped. This is a difficult hike in the winter due to the snow being blown onto the trees, it covers the white markers. Possibly a brighter paint or ribbons to follow in the winter would help. There is a lot of snow, deep.....my poles went completely up to my hands when I tested off the trail. This was Isaac's (12 yr old, and a fine hiker!) first weekend winter hike and we were bummed to have to turn around. |
