Started up one of the ski trails just after dawn, one faint trail mostly filled by snow & drifts, had to break trail all the way up. Snow & wind was ferocious above treeline (estimate 45-50mph, gusting 55-60). Found the AT and headed toward The Horn, broke trail but with no visibility and worsening weather, we turned back probably about 0.2 miles short of the Horn summit. |
