| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Whew! Rapid river road was nerve racking only because I took an AWD sedan to the trail head parking lot. Those with larger 4WD vehicles would probably be fine. The bridges are recently rebuilt and pose no problem. I was able to go 5-10 mph and not damage my car. |

Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Of the 5-6 crossings, the first one was the only one posing any difficulty due to the large felled tree most presumably walk over. With a full pack, I opted to go up a little bit around the tree, and had to duck some of the log jam associated with it. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Overall very good blazing down low (blue), but as others have said, the cairns above treeline can become hard to follow, especially on the way down, when you keep looking at your feet and not the next cairn. One blow down rather low, which looks like it has a permanent work-around now. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two pups, both loving the fine weather. |
|
| Bugs: |
Oh yes. They are out in full force. I wore a insect repellant buff 90% of the time, and an "insecto-shield" Craghoppers long sleeve shirt for the majority of this hike. They definitely helped. |

What an amazing hike - the three miles up to the tent sites (4) were very enjoyable - not much elevation across them. Then, the next 1.1 miles to the summit, I think you gain close to 2,000', half of that exposed on the summit cone. Met a woman close to completing her NE67 with her dog, Max(?) - Good luck - almost there! Great views, temps, and all around climb. If anyone needs details on the campsite, feel free to email. |
