I headed out to Durgin, to hike to the off-trail highpoint that recently came onto my radar. At the trail's height of land, I bushwhacked a short distance to check out a couple of bumps, the highest of which has a cairn. On the way back down Speckled, I followed the Blueberry Ridge Trail a short distance to the height of land and bushwhacked west over the highpoint of Ames Mountain and along that ridge until it rejoined Bickford brook tr. There was some blowdown and a few tight sections, but mostly good walking. |
