The upper granite slabs are incredibly icy. Thick and slick for long stretches. We wore MICROspikes and Hillsounds and they barely sufficed. Full crampons and an ice axe wouldn’t be overkill. On the way back down we bushwacked in the trees on the sides. It was much safer than descending on those ice flows.
Saw 2 snowy owls on top. That was cool. |
