Just echoing what Rocket21 said (whom we were leaping frogging with all day) barefooted to Black Pond junction then snowshoes from there on out. There were a ton of people out today and only about half wore snowshoes...maybe less. It could use more snowshoe traffic. It was fairly Warm today so the footbed got pretty soft, especially on the steeps of the Brutus BW. Go real slow descending this section, we actually started sliding down in our snowshoes (not by choice) so we just went into controlled slides for safety sake. If this sectionn hardens up a bit, good snowshoes should avoid the need to slide. Go get Owl now, it’s the right time! |
