|Date of Hike:
||Saturday, March 9, 2019|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Dallas Hill rd was good, Saddleback road was plowed but still covered, just control the speed. Plenty of parking at the Lodge |
||Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts |
|Water Crossing Notes:
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Saw 1. Looked happy...but no water on this trip. |
|Lost and Found:
||Up the ski trails was straight forward, The Horn is a different story. The cold between the two is deep and steep. There are lot of drifts, inadvertent butt slides/slips and spruce traps...not to mention the consistent 30+ mph wind (with little to no wind forecasted). There are rocky and icy sections in the col but you will want snowshoes for the pow. |
We brought sleds for the descent back the ski trails...it was not as good as hoped. Lots of too steep or icy sections for a sled but there were a few good runs.
