Wanted some extra miles (and views) after Waumbek, so I tried Rumford Whitecap on the way home. Nice hike to an open summit (which I had to myself), and since the sun had come out the views were great. It was also 20 - 25 degrees warmer than it had been on Waumbek, with only a few small patches of snow, so it was a neat contrast to earlier. Mud was not too bad, and there were a few sections where the trail was basically a streambed, but overall pretty dry. Really nice finish to the day. |
