Date of Hike: Monday, May 27, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: To access the trailhead you must travel up a gravel road for approximately 3 miles. To non-Maine residents this translates to needing a higher clearance vehicle with 4 wheel drive as the “gravel” on this road is mostly large rocks. Bridges on this road seem to be in good shape. Few small branches on road near ATV trail junction, but not blocking road. Plenty of parking at the ATV gate.

Comments
Comments: This was our second time up the Berry Pickers Trail. The information on www.mainetrailfinder.com is perfectly accurate and provides an excellent description of the trail, directions, and photos.

This is a moderate trail with the steepest portion covered in the first mile. For those with “weak ankles” please note that there are numerous small tree stumps that make footing very poor in all of the wooded areas.

Maintainers have done an excellent job of trying to keep you on the trail and off the old route. Just pay attention and follow the blazes. This trail is well and accurately blazed.

Small patches of snow at higher elevations in the woods. Easy to negotiate. I expect these to vanish in the next week.

Our family, yet again, were the only persons on this trail. Several people on the AT getting blown around by the wind.
