Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: When you pull into the dirt road from Rt 16, take a right after bridge and the very next right at the fork. Follow this as far as your vehicle will allow. High clearance vehicle definitely helps. We went as far in before the road turn into more of a field. you could see tire tracks in there so if you had a higher clearance vehicle than we had, you can drive right up to the trailhead. we parked in the field on the right before.

Comments
Comments: Well this should have been and easy out and back bushwhack but we got confused right at the beginning and instead of going straight we took a left up this dirt path that took us up a very steep section through the woods. Someone had the correct herd path kind of blocked off with a sticks and the cairn was deceiving... so made our ascent a lot more difficult than it should have been. Not far from the top of the mountain we finally found the real herd path which takes you directly to the summit. Uneventful summit. Wooded/no views. but you know this already! Look for the moose skull in the tree right across from the canister. We actually felt that was the highest point. Descent was WAY easier. followed the herd path all the way to the car. Took us no longer than an hour on descent where ascent BW took us at least double that time. Oh well still a great adventure. We tried to fix that wrong turn cairn area so hopefully someone else doesn't make same mistake we did. I think someone else after us had trouble that same day too as I saw his post on FB. So believe he is writing a trip report as well.
