My first 4000 footer in ME. Was hoping the weather would break but it did not. Wet, raining, and even a bit of sleet near the top. Very well marked trails, which is esp helpful with leaves everywhere and rain. Slippery rocks but there is a metal rope and holds on the eyebrow trail. Rest was fine - poles helped with the way down given the wet everything. Ice up high. Even a quarter of an inch of snow on the coldest trail slopes. Wish I had my microspikes once but I crawled down in the trees on the side. Past peak for sure. Went halfway up the tower and then changed my mind as it was caked with ice and a white out. Yeah, fall is fading away. Seems like a nice valley to visit in better conditions |
