Comments
Comments: Started very good at lower elevations. Follow the path in the grass in front of the base lodge which leads uphill along the ski trails. The ski trails used are not signed but there are 5 "Uphill Access" signs along the way that identify which way to head up Saddleback Mt. Approaching the top of the ski trails and the A.T. the wind was blowing from 30 to 50 MPH, and a snow squall blew through the col for about 10 minutes and left a dusting of snow on the ground. The A.T. was easy to follow with the white blazes and rock cairns. There were 2 sections on the A.T. that were all ice so I used microspikes in those areas, about 300 feet of trail total. Views were great at both peaks and along the ridge and on the ski trails. It took me only 1 hour to hike from the base lodge up to the A.T. and Saddleback summit. No hikers today. Temps from 25 to 35, very windy and a snow squall.
