Comments
Comments: Ah... fresh, unbroken powdah! My favorite kind of trail! This trail is blazed in standard 2x6 white blazes. These are well placed and visible above the snow. Due to the thinness of the trees near the summit, the white blazes are spaced pretty far apart making the trail a bit hard to follow at the upper elevations.

About 0.3 miles below the summit I could not figure out where the trail went. So, since I knew I was just about at the summit I bushwhacked it. Man, those trees are tight! But this hiker, with snowshoes and a pack, was able to squeeze herself through some stout prickly pine trees and come out back on the trail just below the summit. Huh. Well look at that! Found the trail!

I followed the trail on the way back to the point where I got confused. If you’re going out in the next few days, when ascending past the shelter, you will see the two sets of tracks. Follow the set going right.

No tracks going to East Baldpate when I was up there. On the way back down near the upper junction with Table Rock trail I started seeing shoe prints. That barebooting m’effer (who was accompanied by a medium-large dog and wears a size 9 of a brand of shoe called, I think, Lellonos or Lellon or something to that effect) trashed the lower portion of the trail AND the trail going out to Table Rock. Postholes all over the Table Rock trail. Feckin’ A, man. So much for a nice smooth trail.

I only saw one gentleman (in snowshoes thank you so much) and two young ladies on the trail. Hopefully the second young lady heeded my advice and put on her snowshoes. If not, we’ll I did my part to help keep the trail smooth...
