|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Evans Notch (attempt), ME|
|Date of Hike:
||Saturday, April 18, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||ME 113 is still gated (closed). The very large dirt skirt just before the gate is snow free and firm. Enough parking for 15 - 20 cars. |
|Water Crossing Notes:
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
|Lost and Found:
||Today’s goal was to scout out gravel/ dirt roads that are unmaintained in winter around western Maine to see what’s open or driveable. After a few stops in and around Evans Notch we determined that unmaintained winter roads are not open and/or passable yet in this area. Maybe in another 2-4 weeks...|
I don’t know why but a WMNF Law Enforcement vehicle was parked at the gate today. There were about 5 cars parked on the skirt. Maybe monitoring fishing on the Wild River? Saw lots of fisherman roadside today.
ME 113 looked snow free from the gate. Might be a straight forward road walk down to The Roost or Highwater trailheads.
