Decent spring conditions, some unavoidable mud but nothing horrible. Minor snow/messy monorail as you near the top. For me, not worth dealing with the issue of putting spikes on but carry them and make the call. Very windy, temps near freezing and several morning squalls didn't hinder trail conditions but did make the fire tower too icy to climb. Basically, this is a solid hike in every way. Well marked trail, plenty to look at (a few little waterfalls and flumes, pretty woods,) enough vert to make you realize you certainly are on a mountain, and some good views at, and near, the summit. |
