Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A little bit iffy on Eyebrow Trail, due to the no-fall nature of the two minor crossings and wet ledge. On Old Speck Trail, rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Three chainsaw blowdowns prior to the ascent up Old Speck Trail (last one is above first water crossing). All others could be removed via handsaw. Removed some by hand.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Eyebrow Trail not a good idea for most dogs, due to handles and ladder (handles being referred to are to prevent one from sliding off a big, steep ledge). Once snow melts and trail dries, there will be minimal water for the last two to three miles for drinking.
Bugs
Bugs: Minimal.

Comments
Comments: Majority of trails were wet below about 3,500 feet due to undercast and previous week of rain. Wet and slippery ledges on both trails. Mud and puddles generally hoppable/avoidable. Patchy snow starts perhaps around 3,000 feet and continues to the summit, but no particularly long or tedious stretches. Some ice monorail as well, but everyone out today was able to bareboot it. Should be minimal by next weekend.

Nice undercast views from fire tower.
