| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
turn onto Elliotsville plantation road from rt 15 in Monson. Go 7.7 miles to a bridge over Big Wilson stream. Turn left here and pass the trailhead to Borestone Mt. Road will turn to gravel and go another 2.2 miles. Great view of the mountain on your travels... bear left and cross a small bridge. About a half mile after bridge you'll see an AT sign pointing left onto a rougher gravel road, follow that 0.6 to the end and there is a turn around where the trail starts. No problems in my Mazda cx5.... low clearance vehicles on last 0.6 could be a little tricky. |

Barren slide, Barren ledges, Barren Mt.
Fun 7.6 out & back hike to all 3 points. unmaintnance trail is super easy to follow for 0.7 miles to the AT. take a right on the AT and start your adventure for the day. Barren slide is very neat with cool rock formations and a nice view. The ledges have a great view of Barren mountain, lake onawa, Borestone mountain, and all the way to the Bigelows. Really nice views from Barren mountain and you can get a little more climbing up the ladder on what's left of the old fire tower. Trail is easy and gentle in spots to very rocky and rooty. Very much a 100 mile Wilderness feel and great to talk with AT hikers on their way to Katahdin, did talk to a sobo. super fun day with great weather... bring plenty of water because I didn't notice any anywhere all day. ✌🻠|
