drove 11 miles in on success pond rd. to a lesser right turn road for 1/3 of a mile and parked before a bridge. lots of work has been done on success after 10 miles. looks like work will continue. the terrible first 1/2 mile is much improved! |

big change from my original plans. my wife decided to join me because she wanted to hike the notch trail. she went on down as i did the bushwack up mahoosuc mt. from near the end of notch tr. i headed north through some lousy woods which never got all that good. lots of blowdowns and off and on thick stuff. i made it to the summit which is terrific. it has a unique canister setup. couldn't stay too long because of the stiff breeze. i found a better route for the trip down and wound up further down the notch tr. it was a much shorter day than i had planned but still a good one and now the wife has seen success pond rd. and the "famous" notch trail. |
