|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Mt. Katahdin - Hamlin Peak, ME|
||Chimney Pond Trail, North Basin Cutoff, North Basin Trail, Hamlin Ridge Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Monday, October 5, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Arrived at Roaring Brook Campground around 6:30am on Monday. No issues getting a spot in the day use parking area (though we had stayed the night before in BSP). |
||Dry Trail, Wet Trail |
|Water Crossing Notes:
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Trails were in excellent condition and well marked. Only encountered one blowdown along the way, but it was easy to duck under (unfortunately, I can't remember where we were on the trail). |
|Lost and Found:
||Once on Hamlin Ridge Trail, we didn't see anyone (though maybe because it was a Monday) and enjoyed the summit to ourselves. |
We were told by a Park Ranger that it had lightly snowed recently on Katahdin, but it had all since melted. Blue skies in all directions today and the ground was dry above treeline. Some of the fallen leaves and roots were slippery in places below treeline.
