Wanted to check this peak out before it gets developed into real estate/ski trails (scheduled over the next couple of years).
Trails were mostly dry. Access road/ski trails adjacent to it were very busy; hoards of folks hiking down from the gondola.
Merrill Hill Trail branches off to the right near a height of land on the access road (marked with a hiker sign). Basically a gentle four wheeler trail until it reaches a future home development (chairs and an excellent view into Jordan Bowl). It then follows a dirt road for the development, then branches off to the right after a height of land. Thereafter, it climbs a bit more steeply up to some ledges, at this point just marked with surveyors' tape. The highpoint is marked with a cairn and has a nice view to Old Speck and Sunday River Whitecap.
Foliage is past peak, but there were some nice golden colors below the housing development road. |
