Comments
Comments: Today we ventured into a region which we haven't explored much yet and decided to hike Kelly Mountain in Brighton.

We followed the directions in the Maine Mountain Guide to the trailhead. The roads were a bit muddy, but no problem with AWD. In the summer, the roads would likely be passable with low clearance and 2wd. The parking area is in an old log landing.

The trail is an ATV trail and was eroded and muddy in places, but was easy to follow and the various branches of the trail all seem to come together again at some point.

At the summit, we climbed the tower for the best views. No stairs on this tower, just a ladder straight up to the recently rebuilt observation deck at the top of the 40 foot tall tower. It's not for anyone afraid of heights, but the views from the top of the tower were excellent in all directions.
