Trail for first mile is hard packed with lots of small detours to go around blowdowns. Bare boots okay. Snow eventually becomes softer and snowshoes are really recommended. On the way to horns pond we tried to smooth out boot tracks and post holes. From the pond it was breaking trail over both horns and then to West peak. From West peak to Avery and then down was semi broken out from us on Wednesday but some drifting and light snowfall obscured many of our tracks. But with us descending and 2 hikers ascending there is now a nice snowshoe trail. |
