Hiked up for sunrise. Trail was in great shape. Lots of snowshoe and ski tracks around the various trails. I wore microspikes for the ascent but barebooted most of the descent. There was one brief section that had been obscured by drifts so I donned the snowshoes and resuscitated it. Snow in the summit area was more characteristic of wind slab than a true packed trail. Once the sun started hitting it, it softened up some and I could feel the potential for postholing - worth it to bring the snowshoes just in case. Windy and cold but a truly beautiful day |
