|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Coburn Mountain, ME|
||Enchanted Mountain Road, snowmobile trails|
|Date of Hike:
||Wednesday, February 10, 2021|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Parked in a plowed turnout at the beginning of Enchanted Mountain Rd, located on the west side of US 201 about 10 miles north of the bridge over the Kennebec River in The Forks. |
||Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts |
|Water Crossing Notes:
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||No issues following the unplowed Enchanted Mountain Rd. The snowmobile trail to the summit was well kept and in good shape, and I had no issues going up and down it on snowshoes. |
|Lost and Found:
||Enchanted Mountain Rd had a snowmobile track going up it, so I didn’t have to do any trail breaking there. The snowmobile trail to the summit had seen a good amount of traffic, so no trail breaking necessary there either. Some minor drifting in places, but nothing problematic. |
This turned out to be one of the better hikes I’ve done recently- there were good views at a lot of points on the hike up and down, and even better views from the top. Also, the forest was very tranquil with the snow-capped trees, on and off snow showers, and light wind. Just what the doctor ordered!
